Had a Great Sunday!

We had a birthday party to go to.  My son did great!  As a parent of a child whose social skills are 4 years behind for his age, every trip is just daunting and can be filled with anxiety.

We were so thrilled to see all the years of therapy starting to actually work.  No one knew he had Asperger's until he had to deal with a situation.  He even made his mama more proud by talking it out with me, and controlling his anger.  That's my boy!  It is my dream that one day Jared will find parents that love him more than anything else like I love my son.

XOXO,

Val

Hair Jewelry!

So, I have become a Lilla Rose consultant to help raise money for Jared's grant fund.  Hopefully, this will help him find his family!!  My profits, minus the minor expenses I should have, will go to Jared's fund.

If you are interested in fundraising for another child, please let me know and we can set you up with a party.  Or, if you would just like to buy a product, you can do that from the site also.  Please use my link only, so the funds go to my handsome little Jared.  http://www.lillarose.biz/ValerieOuillette/index.html?id=wWEysnJz&mv_pc=8

So I Was Sick

Had a wretched virus that beat me up for 3 weeks, but that has finally passed.  I will be fundraising for Jared soon.  I hope we raise enough money to find his family.  It is imperative this little boy finds his family soon.  If one does not know how to treat his special need, he will be forgotten, and become a lost boy.  His condition does not affect his intelligence.  Just his way of learning.

Blessed Summer Solstice!

A little late, but I have friends that celebrate it, and I wanted to let them know that I did not forget about them.  I hope you enjoyed the day, and may your season of growth be plentiful.

Brightest Blessings!!

Val

Finally.....

....able to come back and help Jared.  I have a few months before I start classes again, so I will do what I can.  If you do not follow Jared without me, I am here to let you know that his grant is OVER $1000!!  Yay Jared!!  With your help, we can make it go higher and higher!  Let's keep it up and get him fully funded.

Out for a Little Bit

Oh Jared I will pray for you to find your family daily.  I am not going to be here until my son's special needs are stable again.  I will keep posting Jared's pic throughout FB, but my after just burying a grandmother, and having to fight the school system, I need a few weeks to catch up.

Have a blessed Memorial Day.

Aho,

Val

Proposition....

Both Sutter and Jared are in the same country.  IF we can all work together to raise the money to fund them both, my husband and I will run to get them both.  Can we do it?  We have less than a year.  How about 3 months?  Jared needs to get home as soon as possible, and Sutter will age out next year.  I am decided on a fundraiser for Jared's fund.  Jared's picture at the top right of the page brings him directly to his fund.  Here is a link for Sutter's:  http://reecesrainbow.org/52642/sutter

Still Looking Jared

Once again, I am asking for help in finding Jared's forever family.  In case I do not post this enough, Jared has Stickler Syndrome.  It is a congential condition that is highly treatable, and the earlier the better.  Unfortunately for Jared, earlier is not happening and he is already 6.  Please help us find his family!  Just look at "my" boy's cheeks!

http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/stickler-syndrome

Julie!

Yes, I usually stick to the boys but this girl sounds like the perfect daughter.  She had an American family host her one summer, and she did well.  I bet her hair would be amazing if she was able to grow it out.  Well, if she wants to! :-)

http://reecesrainbow.org/1696/julie

Simon

Here is yet another handsome boy that will be aging out this year.  He has until October for his family to commit to him.  Let's bring Simon home!!  He has an amazing grant, is smart, and that smile makes me think a little bit of a joker inside.  Wouldn't you love to make him laugh?  Oh, and his grant is >$5,000 to help find his family faster.   http://reecesrainbow.org/50017/simon.

Is Anyone Approved/Ready for China?

If so, this young man needs a family NOW!!!  He needs his adoption finished by September.  He has a great smile, and I am betting he would love an active family.

Seriously...

Someone needs to go get Jared.  Please!  There is just so little information available on him, and that is never a good sign.  Even though he is now 6 even his picture from his country is REALLY old, and there have never been updates.  It's not unheard of for inexperienced and under funded orphanges to ignore these children completely.  It is also not unheard of for them to die when they are transferred into an adult institution at the ripe old age of 5 or 6.

Stickler Syndrome is a highly treatable syndrome.  Unfortunately, intervention needs to be done sooner rather than later.  Jared really needs his family to get him NOW.  Help me raise Jared's funds!  Help me spread the word!  Help me find his family!

Brighest Blessings,

Val

Cannot Decide on Which Country?

Well, I am sharing the page from Reece's Rainbow.  Don't forget if you find a child on another site, and they are classified as a special needs child (sans healthy older), you can put in an application for an FSP.  Please ignore the requirements for Russia if you are American.  Sadly, Russia has slammed the door shut for Americans at the moment, and are considering closing it to all other countries.  Pray for those children that will be left behind, and those whose families were in the middle of adopting their children.

International Programs

Reece’s Rainbow is a VOICE OF HOPE for children with Down syndrome and other special needs in around the world. We started in 2006 with only five children in Ukraine! We are thrilled with the success and growth of this ministry, and God’s ability to raise awareness for these beautiful children through us. More than 800 children are currently listed on our website waiting for their family to find them. Even if you are not in a position to adopt, you can make a life-saving difference for any child with your grant sponsorship gifts!

So happy for Frank!!  Yay

A Wee Little One!

For those of you that are looking for a young child (although as mine gets older, my idea of young keeps getting older! LOL), meet Anders:

http://reecesrainbow.org/57951/anders

Happy Birthday Jared!!

Well, where he is at it is technically May 1st already.  Jared really needs his Mama to plan all those cool birthday parties, wipe away those tired tears, run after him picking up wrapping paper, telling him it's ok if someone else plays with one of the multitude of presents, etc...  We all know those tired birthday children, and he should really be one of them.  Please help make his birthday better by donating to his grant.  The more I can help him raise, the faster his Mama can step up!

LOOK!!!

Jared's team jumped from 3rd to 2nd in the "short" 6 hours it took me to drive from one end of FL to another!  The donation was to the family half, but so happy he may now be getting a little bit of a grant!  Please donate to either his grant or to the link for his team:

****I actually get to correct this and say from 4th to 2nd!  I missed one of the other teams on the mobile!****

Here is Another Boy..Frank!

Frank is a young who has traits of possible fetal alcohol syndrome and some minor delays.  He has no physical disabilities, or life threatening diseases.  This is the perfect example of lost in the system.  Frank is going to turn 13 in May without a family to spoil him on his special day.  He is another boy with a great grant.

Every one of these children deserve to have a chance at life.  The conditions around the world are drastically different than the US, and they do not get even the basic need of love and touch fulfilled.  Through out all of this, he is still a happy child that wants a family, and wants to learn.  Here is his RR link, and a link from another blogger.  Just look at that face!!  If you are interested in Frank, you would need to have initial homestudy approval due to his situation.  Please do not hesitate to contact Reece's Rainbow for more information.

Casey Needs a Commited Family By June!

Hello folks, please meet Casey.  He's such a sweet boy, and will lose his chance at a family in June.  He needs to a family NOW.  He has a great grant of over $3500.  Could you share your heart with Casey?  This is actually a fairly recent picture.  All that time confined to a bed, self stiming, and he still has a smile on his face!

Jared's Condition

Jared has Stickler syndrome, not Down Syndrome.  He is listed under "other angels" on Reece's Rainbow.  These are a few links about Stickler's.  I wish we had more info on what gene is mutated, but I am afraid we do not.  He needs a family that is willing to go get him on a leap of faith!

http://www.seattlechildrens.org/medical-conditions/chromosomal-genetic-conditions/stickler/

http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/children/clinical_services/cleft_craniofacial/anomalies/stickler.html

Please share Jared, and maybe his family will be able to find him.  Please donate to his fund with the link to the right.  The larger his grant the more likely a family able to care for him will step forward to adopt him.

Special Needs Adoption.

Is it for you?  I am the mom of a child with autism, with other common conditions.  People ask me every day how we do it?  How we do what?  Be parents?

We adopted our son as an infant.  The agency we used was filled with corrupt owners and workers.  The social workers were great, and helped us out immensely.  They withheld a bunch of medical history that actually classified our son as special needs.  But some agencies are not known for their honesty.

We were lucky, we knew part of his birthfamily before they decided that he was not worth their time anymore, and were kind enough to share some history.  It took years of running to this doctor, that doctor, try this med, have this test done, losing this friend and that friend because of the behaviour they could not understand, or they did not want to understand, etc. until we found that perfect combination of everything!

A mental health worker once told me that adoptive parents learn to resent their adopted children, or do not consider their needs on the same level as birth children.  I guess I really do not understand that, as I have no biological child, and I have never regretted my decision to adopt my child.  I do not believe I would have done anything differently for my child if he had come from my DNA.  Do you think this could be you?  Could you love a child for no other reason that they need it?  Do you see yourself being a child's teacher, advocate, coach, parent, and one that provides that child with unconditional love?  If you think that you can love a child that is in need? Please adopt.  It does not matter where from as there are children all over the world that need homes.  It's the wildest ride you will ever have, and also the greatest accomplishment.  So blessed with our son!

Good Morning Jared!

Well, since I am up 3 hours earlier than usual this AM, I figured I would say good morning to this cutie pie!!  He needs his fund increased.  He has medical issues that will need life long support, especially since he has had NO early intervention (you can tell by looking at this pic).  The larger his grant, the easier it will be to help find his family.

I have not forgotten about you. I just noticed you are no longer on the bottom where I can see you!

Good Afternoon!

Well, it is in my time zone ;-).  I woke this morning with the realization that I have a crappy virus thanks to the males in my house.  I started to actually started feeling crappy about it until I thought of Jared, and the other children that suffer from chronic conditions every day. Then I figuritively kicked myself in the bum, and moved on.

Jared, I am sorry that your family has not found you.  Praying everyday that the Creator leads your family to you.  I hope that those who read this will give even a few dollars to his grant.  It's not for a lack of people wanting these amazing children, but with the average cost of $25,000 it does make it difficult.  They can afford to raise the child, but to come up with that kind of money in 4-5 months is daunting for any average American family.  All monies donated through the link below are tax deductible!  If not Jared, feel free to donate funds to another child.

Felix needs to find a family that will love him for who he is.  In a world where not being the "norm" is a day to day challenge, he needs to be show that it's great to be different!  He has a wonderful grant to help his parents run and get him.

Help Bring Tucker Home

The Brook family will be getting their travel dates soon for Eastern Europe, and really need help getting their funds.  They were hoping they would be able to do some fundraising, and get a grant.  Neither worked out as well as they had hoped.  All donations are tax deductible for Americans.  I am not sure how it would work with other countries.

Nolan....

..and then I truly need to sleep :-).

Nolan has this amazing grant of over $15,000.  This is over half of his adoption.  Here is his link:  http://reecesrainbow.org/?s=nolan

And here is this handsome boy!!

I wish the newer one was less grainy, but I will take what I can get.  Still such a handsome boy!!

URGENT

Who has their paperwork ready, and wants to add a son?  Please help Sebastian:

Sebastian will turn 16 THIS MONTH (April 2013). A family must have paperwork filed for him with USCIS PRIOR to his birthday — so, it must be filed on 4/25/1997.
We’ve been told Sebastian is available for adoption, but his paperwork will not be cleared in country until fall 2013. However, the process *MUST* be started with USCIS (US Immigration) prior to his 16th birthday, for an American family to adopt him.

Jared

Here is Jared's link.  In case it was buried under all that cuteness.  He is in Eastern Europe.  All donations are tax deductible for American's.

Other Children

Since Sutter is safe right now, I am going to introduce some other children on Reece's Rainbow.  I decided to keep the blog's title the same, as I would not have started this if not for Sutter.  The first one I am going to share is Jared.  He has Stickler Syndrome (connective tissue disorder from faulty collagen), and needs to find a family that will
battle for his needs.  Folks with Stickler Syndrome have normal intelligence, they usually have learning disabilities, speech impairment (depending on which gene is affected, and if they have Pierre-Robin sequence (cleft lips/palates), along with vision/hearing impairments.  Of course, there can be many levels of severity of the disorder.  http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/stickler-syndrome.  Ok, enough medical, look at this handsome boy with the chubby cheeks. I am sure this is an older pic, but the only one anyone has...
